Isolated Neurons

Brodinsky et al further show that activity-related changes in neurotransmitter expression also occur in isolated neurons in vitro, hinting that a cell-autonomous mechanism – a mechanism that depends solely on the neuron in question, and not on external factors – regulates neurotransmitter output.
